Social Media

I have in my life time, which is short because I am still young, studied media and its effects on the world. When we examine media we are looking at both  the media itself, Newspapers, Advertisements, Movies and so, but also the devices to which they can be displayed, i.e iPhones, blackberry, tablets etc. In today's world's almost everyone has a device to which it allows them to link with the media and gain and send information.

Media on devices such as iPhones has given the masses the power to control the media, taking away the power from a few and giving it to the majority. The masses now has the ability to create blogs, desoign websites, create facebookand  twitter accounts in order to broadcast to the world issues in their country and personal lives.

However, one drawback to this media surge across the world, or rather the devices, is that people spend more time on their devices that socialising in real life. As if they create a virtual world to which they can communicate to others, live in a fantasy world and become almost absent to "reality".

Therefore my argument is social media, despite its wonderful advantages, has a disadvantage that is not worth benefit of these such devices.

What do you think?
